Full Size Invasion 2018 during Easter Jeep Safari

We are building a 1979 Jeep Cherokee Chief to take to the Full Size Invasion during Easter Jeep Safari in Moab, Utah.  We have been very fortunate to partner up with industry friends to make this happen.

As a child I grew up watching my Dad work on his Jeeps so he could take us offroading every weekend.  I can't thank him enough for the hardwork he put in and it is very cool to be able to do the exact same things with my wife and daughters.

Drummond Island is one of our favorite places to offroad, so when we got the invite to attend Jeepend 2017 we were obviously excited.  Jeepend is a weekend event of camping and offroading on the iconic island.

Project Black n' Tan is a Gobi colored 2017 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Sport that we built to be driven everyday and run trails on the weekend.

After installing the 37" tires our stock 4:10 gear ratio just wasn't going to cut it as we knew would happen at the start of the build.  With the larger tires the Jeep was very sluggish and overdrive became a thing of the past.  So obviously the next step on the Rubicon Build was a gear swap.

Our first step was very similar to what we do when we sit down with a client preparing to build what they would want.  We knew we wanted to run 37" Mud Terrain tires and also wanted install a suspension system that was heavy duty enough to take any abuse we could throw at it but provide a plush ride on the highway.

One of our trusty shop rigs is our Jeep Wrangler Rubicon Unlimited.  The Rubicon serves as a daily driver and weekend warrior exactly the way most of our clients use their Jeeps.  When we sat down to design this build we had some simple demands

1. Be reliable and able to be driven all around the country. No trailer queens here.

We were invited by the Grand Rapids Jeep Club to go trail riding on the Tin Cup Trails near Baldwin, MI.  The group consisted of 36 Jeeps from all around West Michigan.  It was a beautiful day and the Trail conditions were perfect.  The Tin Cup Trail is a mild trail that can be fun for Jeeps stock to modified and offers challenges for entry level to intermediate off roaders.

This Jeep Grand Cherokee has been in our family for 12 years and its time for it to get some much needed upgrades.  First we really needed step back and look at the goals of the build.  First and formost was reliability and comfort, we travel all over the midwest and don't want to build a designated trailer queen so reliability will be crucial.

We took part in the second annual Zombie Dash in Grand Rapids, Michigan.  We had a great time running through downtown Grand Rapids in the dark dodging zombies who were trying to attack us.  The event raises money for the Michigan Blood Bank and draws around 600 runners.

Drummond Island is a can't miss for Michigan off roading experiences.  The island has miles and miles of trails everything from two tracks to mud and rock climbing.  We've been up multiple times and you can really get a feel for nature with how remote some of the trails can be.

Barry-Roubaix 2016 was a great time this year!  The Ken's Kar Kare Bike Team had a great showing, finishing strong in each of their classes.  Many know Ken Sr. and Ken Jr. as accomplished Master Mechanics who love everything off road and Jeep related but don't they also love everything adventure related expecially mountain biking.
